LASER THERAPY*

Upon request, your Therapist will use a combination Red-Infrared Laser machine on indicated areas of the body to speed healing, reduce pain and inflammation, improve lymph function and decrease edema. This is a completely safe, pain-free, non invasive procedure with no side effects and no radiation. Laser Therapy will make your massage therapy treatment more effective, but can be used on its own for HUGE benefits!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The light from the diodes penetrates the soft tissue in specific wavelength formation.  Specific wavelengths of Red and Infrared Light (660nm and 850nm) are absorbed by the cells. The mitochondria (power house of each cell) convert the light  into cellular energy, called Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP).  When the production of ATP increases, so does each cells function, sometimes in excess of 200%.

THERAPEUTIC ULTRASOUND*

Ultrasound uses vibration via sound waves that enter the soft tissue and create a deep penetrating heat that loosens the tissue and promotes circulation. A different level can be used to create the same effects but without heat. It can therefore be used on acute injuries to reduce inflammation and reduce pain. Ultrasound will make your massage therapy treatment more effective.

*ULTRASOUND AND LASER ARE INCLUDED IN ALL MASSAGE THERAPY TREATMENTS AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE (UPON REQUEST).

MASSAGE THERAPY:

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues using Swedish and non-Swedish techniques applied with moderate to deep pressure.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Massage can be performed pre, during, and post activity to maintain optimal condition for the event. Sports massage focuses on muscles relevant to the event. For athletes who train continuously, the goal is to enhance endurance, lessen the chance of injury and shorten the time needed to recover from an event.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger point therapy involves decreasing trigger points (knots) in your muscles that may cause local pain or referred pain to other parts of your body. It can be a painful treatment but your massage therapist will work within your pain scale/tolerance to help break down the trigger point in your muscle or muscles.

JOINT MOBILIZATIONS

Joints can be mobilized if they aren't functioning properly.  Properly administered joint mobilizations will increase the flow of synovial fluid to the joint and decrease discomfort.  When combined with massage therapy to the muscles, tendons and ligaments surrounding the joint(s), joint mobilizations can improve range of motion and prevent further restrictions within the joint itself.  And remember, your spine consists of joints as well.

STRESS RELIEF/RELAXATION MASSAGE

The primary purpose of a relaxation massage is to help you relax using Swedish massage techniques at a slower pace with lighter pressure. Your massage therapist will use less advanced and less painful techniques. With a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out knots and your deeper muscle groups.

TMJ INTRA-ORAL THERAPY

Clenching or grinding your teeth can not only affect your teeth, it can also cause headaches, neck pain, jaw pain and postural changes.  Even if you wear a night time mouth guard, your jaw and neck muscles are still under extreme stress.  Massage therapy to the main muscles of mastication can help reduce pain, tightness and headaches associated with TMJ dysfunction.  Jaw pain is closely linked to Tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

PREGNANCY & INFANT MASSAGE

Pregnancy massage shares many of the benefits and techniques of a regular Swedish and relaxation massage. Your massage therapist, who is trained in treating pregnant clients, will adjust their techniques, their pressure, and your position based on your concerns and complaints. This massage is focused on discomforts associated with first, second and third trimesters.  Infants benefit profoundly from massage therapy.  Light touch techniques can reduce colic, improve sleep, stimulate digestion and create wonderful bonding between mom and baby.

PRESCRIBED EXERCISES

Stretching and strengthening exercises are remedial exercises given to each client after treatment to help maintain their body wellness, pain, tightness and weakness. These exercises can then be performed at home. Stretching is targeted at a specific muscle or group of muscles to improve flexibility and range of motion. Strengthening is done to enhance the development of a specific muscle or group of muscles.

HOME CARE

Home care suggestions are provided by your therapist as well to ensure that you are getting the best out of your treatments.  For example; drinking plenty of water, proper sleeping positions, work station suggestions, heat or cold, rest or 'push through it' opinion, etc..
