Allison's Story

In 2001, I graduated from Algonquin College's 3 year Massage Therapy Program in Ottawa.

I worked at a Chiropractic office in Kingston with other health care professionals for many years.  I enjoyed working there, and learned a lot from my colleagues, but I really wanted to be able to provide my own small community of South Frontenac with excellent health care without having to travel to the city.

That's when Back to Health was born, in 2014.

Back to Health was received with great support from family, friends and neighbours!  I am so grateful for their ongoing trust and support!

I grew up enjoying my summers at our cottage on Dog Lake every year.  Hiawatha's Hideaway was founded by my grandpa in 1960, so I hold Battersea & Inverary very close to my heart!

In my free time I enjoy camping and spending time with my husband and 2 children, playing piano, horse back riding, water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, and anything outdoors!  Saying that, I like seeing other people enjoying life too.  So if pain, stress, or injury are holding them back, I want to help.

My other passion is horses!  I've been riding since I was 5 years old; loved Pony Club, trail riding and horse shows, and thus worked hard to earn my Competition Coach Certification with Equine Canada.  I also got my Equine Massage Therapy Certificate in 1996, so now I'm able to help athletes, two-legged and four!

I love continuing to learn and improve my skills so I take additional courses whenever I can. Here are some of my favourite courses so far :

-University of Ottawa's Cadaver Anatomy

-Scapular Stretch/Rotator Cuff Injury

-LED/LASER therapy

-Therapeutic Ultrasound

-Axial Joint Mobilizations

-Athletic Taping

-Hot Stone Massage

-Certified Equine Massage Therapist (1996)

-Certified Equine Canada Competition Coach
